General Information
Since ancient times the word “Gobi"-meaning “desert” in all Central-Altaic languages. The Mongolian Gobi a vast zone of desert and semi desert occupying almost 30% of our country’s vast territory, is a well-renowned place. The great Mongolian Gobi has high mountains, springs, forests, sands steppe lands and rich animal kingdom and it has been inhabited since ancient times. There are rare animals such as the mountain sheep, ibex, snow leopard, Gobi bear, fox, wolf, steppe fox, wild ass, lynx and gazelles. And also Mongolian Gobi is famous for the findings of dinosaurs. Because Mongolian Gobi was the bottom of the ocean 60-70 millions years ago. Early 1920. An American explorer Roy Chapmen Andrews discovered several dinosaurs with eggs. Which was discovering very first eggs and egg rest in the world. Especially, Bayanzag /flaming cliffs/ is internationally famous for dinosaurs remain, complete dinosaur skeletons eggs, and saxaul trees.
Day 1:
UB - Dalanzadgad - Yolyn Am- Drive to the airport for flight to Gobi
- Drive to Yolyn Am, the vulture valley
- Visit Yolyn Am + picnic lunch
- Dinner at the Ger Camp and stay overnight
Day-2:
Yolyn Am - Khongor Els- Drive to Khongor Sand dunes
- Visit local camel herding family
- Optional camel riding
- Climb the dunes and enjoy the sunset
- Dinner at the Ger Camp and stay overnight
Day-3:
Khongor Els - Bayanzag- Drive to Bayanzag, the flaming cliffs
- Visit the area
- Lunch at local restaurant
- Sunset near the flaming cliffs
- Dinner at the Ger Camp and stay overnight
Day-4:
Dalanzadgad - UB- Drive to the airport for flight to UB
Day 1:
UB - Dalanzadgad - Yolyn AmEarly flight to Dalanzadgad of South Gobi province.
Drive to Ger camp to relax. Drive to Yolyn Am in the Gobi Gurvan
Saikhan National Park. Walk to the valley with tick ice all year round. This is a beautiful
place to have a picnic.
Stay and overnight at Ger camp. (B, L, D)
Day-2:
Yolyn Am - Khongor ElsDrive to Khongor Sand dunes which is famous by locals as Singing Sand Dunes to discover real Gobi of Mongolia. Khongor- Singing Sand dunes creates beautiful natural sound by wind blowing. Climb to the highest point and enjoy sun set from the top of the Sand Dunes. Camel riding is available here and visit nomadic family and discover their unique lifestyle. Stay and overnight at ger camp.
Day-3:
Khongor Els - BayanzagToday we will travel to Bayanzag flaming cliffs so named by Roy Chapmen Andrews, an American explorer, who had visited to Mongolia in 1920s. During 2 years, he discovered large number of dinosaur skeletons, eggs, egg nests and sexual trees from here. Walk around the area once dinosaurs used to roam freely here, which lived 70-80million years ago.
Day-4:
Dalanzadgad - UBFly Back to UB. Do some shopping and a folk show “ Wonders of Mongolian Arts” . Farewell dinner.
